正面描述 Central motif of two outline crescents arranged back-to-back, with two pellets filling the space between them. The crescents are set upon a vertical wreath pattern composed of two parallel lines, from which rows of pellets extend perpendicularly, creating a structured decorative field. The overall composition is typical of late Iceni abstract coinage, in which naturalistic motifs have been progressively reduced to geometric and pellet-based ornamental elements.

附加信息

Contemporary counterfeits of Iceni silver units — plated bronze cores struck with official-looking dies — circulated freely in the decades before the Claudian invasion of 43 AD. Their existence suggests the tribal economy had expanded to a point where demand for small silver exceeded what authorized production could supply, or that the distinction between official and unofficial struck pieces was simply not enforced. Either interpretation points to a monetary system under pressure.

The "Ecen Ecen Edn" inscription is among the clearest tribal name attributions in the late Iron Age British series, which makes the counterfeit problem here particularly well-documented by reference.
