| Descrizione del dritto | Heavily corroded and heavily patinated obverse of a contemporary counterfeit, struck on a bronze core with a now largely degraded silver wash. The die design is largely obscured by corrosion and flaking of the silver plating, exposing the underlying bronze substrate exhibiting green cuprite and black oxidation. Traces of the characteristic Corieltauvi abstract design elements, possibly derived from a stylised head or geometric pattern, can be discerned beneath the heavy encrustation. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with crude unofficial production imitating official Corieltauvi silver units of the AVN COST type. |
