| Obverse description | Crudely rendered, highly abstracted head of Apollo facing right, rendered in a debased Celtic idiom characteristic of contemporary forgeries. The wreath is depicted with schematic leaves pointing upward, accompanied by a draped cloak and crescent motifs flanking the head. The die was engraved with a laurel leaf detail that is filled in on the die itself and consequently not struck up on the coin's surface. The overall style reflects a significant departure from the prototype stater, with the facial features reduced to rudimentary linear elements in the field. |
