Verica was the last client king of the Atrebates before his expulsion — likely by Catuvellauni pressure under Cunobelinus or his sons — prompted him to flee to Rome and appeal directly to Claudius. That appeal is the immediate political trigger for the Roman invasion of Britain in 43 AD. Coins of Verica therefore predate not just a conquest but a chain of events he personally set in motion.
At 0.3g and 8mm, minims are among the smallest struck coins in the British Iron Age series, and die alignment and centering on this denomination are almost never consistent.
