Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Gaston d'Orléans facing right, with flowing long hair and armored shoulder visible beneath the drapery. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the baroque portrait style typical of mid-17th century French coinage. The circular legend is divided by the bust, reading GASTON.VS.P to the left and DOMBARVM to the right. The coin exhibits a fine milled or grained edge border visible at the rim.

Reverse description Crowned shield bearing the France ancien arms of three fleurs-de-lis arranged two and one, representing the arms of Orléans, centered in the field. The royal crown surmounting the escutcheon is ornate and rendered in fine detail. The date 1652 appears in the upper portion of the legend to the left of the crown. The circular Latin legend surrounds the shield, reading +DOMINVS.ADIVTOR.ET.REDE.MEVS, broken around the crowned arms. The rim displays a characteristic milled or grained border.
