Obverse description Facing gorgoneion (Metus) rendered in high relief, depicting the apotropaic mask with wide-open eyes, a broad flat nose, and protruding tongue issuing from a gaping mouth. The face is framed by a mass of writhing serpentine hair radiating outward, enclosed within a beaded border. Immediately below the chin, the denomination mark XX is incused, denoting the value of 20 Asses. The style is characteristic of the bold, expressive die-cutting associated with the Etruscan mint of Populonia.

Reverse description Completely blank and uniface, exhibiting only the smooth, slightly concave silver flan surface with no devices, legends, or decorative elements of any kind. The absence of a reverse type is a defining characteristic of this Populonian series, reflecting the early Etruscan minting tradition of producing uniface coinage struck from a single obverse die against a plain punch.
