Silver 20 Asses Amphora / Octopus series

Beschrijving voorzijde	A large amphora depicted in high relief at centre, set upon an ornate decorative stand, with the tentacles of an octopus emerging from behind the vessel on both sides, rendered in a bold archaic Etruscan style. The amphora is rendered with considerable plasticity, dominating the flan. The denomination mark XX appears in the lower field below the stand, indicating the value of 20 Asses. The design is framed by a beaded border running around the coin's circumference. The overall composition is characteristic of the civic coinage of Populonia, renowned for its distinctive and highly artistic use of marine and vessel motifs.

Beschrijving keerzijde	Uniface; the reverse is entirely blank and uninscribed, with a rough, irregular surface resulting from the hammered striking technique.
