The Iceni occupied what is now Norfolk and northern Suffolk, and their coinage developed largely independently of Continental Gaulish influences — an unusual trajectory for a British tribal issue. This denomination, the smallest silver struck by the Iceni, circulated in a region that would remain restive under Roman encroachment until Boudica's revolt of 60–61 AD torched Camulodunum, Londinium, and Verulamium.
The ABC 1615 classification places this firmly within the later Iceni silver series, after the tribe had developed consistent die-cutting conventions distinct from their Trinovantian neighbors to the south.
