The Regni territory around Chichester sat directly in the path of Caesar's two British expeditions of 55 and 54 BC, and the political turbulence that followed — shifting tribal alliances, Roman client relationships, and interrupted trade networks — almost certainly drove the fragmentation of coinage into fractional denominations like this one.
