The Iceni occupied what is now Norfolk and Suffolk, operating largely outside direct Roman economic influence until Claudius's invasion of 43 AD. Their fractional silver coinage — of which this is among the smallest denominational units — functioned within a tribal exchange system that remains poorly documented. Precise attribution within Iceni issues is still contested; the Talbot references here represent some of the most current scholarship on a series that older catalogs handled crudely.
