Obverse description Pearl-diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valens facing right, rendered in late Roman imperial style with finely engraved layered hair and paludamentum visible at the shoulder. The effigy displays characteristic late antique portraiture with a strong profile and prominent diadem of pearls. The encircling obverse legend reads D N VALENS P F AVG, identifying the emperor with his titles Dominus Noster, Pius Felix Augustus.

Reverse description Victory personified seated left upon a throne, holding a small Victory statuette set upon a globe in her right hand and a long sceptre in her left, a composition emblematic of Roman imperial triumphalism. The reverse legend VRBS ROMA encircles the field, invoking the eternal city of Rome. The mint mark TRPS appears in the exergue, denoting the fourth officina of the Treveri (Trier) mint. The overall design reflects the standardised siliqua iconography of the Valentinianic period.
