| Obverse description | Bare head of Constantine I facing right, wearing a broad jewelled diadem tied at the nape with ribbon ends falling behind, the hair rendered in fine parallel striations swept back beneath the diadem. The emperor's gaze is directed upward and to the right in the characteristic Constantinian sol invictus convention, conveying a sense of divine inspiration. The portrait is executed in a refined, idealised style characteristic of the Siscia mint during this period, with naturalistic facial modelling and a slightly elongated neck. No legend is visible on the obverse, which is encircled by a plain inner border. |
