Siliqua - Arcadius VIRTVS ROMANORVM, Treveri

Arcadius ruled the Eastern Empire following the death of Theodosius I in 395, but this siliqua was struck at Treveri — modern Trier — still nominally a functioning Western mint in the final years before the court abandoned it for Milan. Trier had been a primary imperial residence for much of the fourth century, and its mint output during the 392–395 window reflects the administrative chaos following Eugenius's usurpation in the West. RIC IX 106c is among the later Trier siliquae, struck as the city's political importance was already in steep decline.
