Amisos, the Greek colony on the southern Black Sea coast, occupied an awkward political position throughout the fourth century — nominally independent at times, under Persian satrapal pressure at others, and eventually absorbed into the Pontic kingdom. A civic silver issue from this period that escapes the standard SNG corpora entirely is genuinely unusual; the absence from Black Sea, Copenhagen, and von Aulock simultaneously points to either a very small surviving population or a type published only in more specialized regional literature.
The siglos weight standard connects this issue to Persian-influenced metrology common across Anatolia at the time.
