Obverse description Ram advancing to left in profile, rendered in archaic relief with schematic musculature. Superimposed prominently upon the animal's body is an ankh symbol, its loop rising above the ram's back and its crossbar and stem overlying the haunches and legs. The composition occupies a broadly plain, irregular flan typical of early Cypriot hammered coinage. The style reflects the strong Egyptian cultural influence prevalent in Cyprus during the early fifth century BC.
