背面描述 Forepart of a horse facing right, prominently depicted with a finely detailed braided mane falling along the neck, a canonical symbol of Carthaginian civic and military power. A six-rayed star appears in the lower right field beneath the horse's neck, serving as the principal control or type symbol that gives this issue its numismatic designation. The composition fills the flan effectively, with the horse's head shown in bold high relief. No legend or inscription is present on the reverse, which is characteristic of Punic bronze coinage of this series. The overall rendering reflects the confident craftsmanship of the Carthage mint during the late fourth to early third century BC.

附加信息

Struck during Carthage's period of consolidated control over western Sicily and Sardinia, these bronzes served the logistical demands of mercenary armies rather than any civic coinage tradition — Carthage itself had no domestic bronze currency until the fourth century, and the push into military-issue small bronzes was driven entirely by the need to pay troops in fractional denominations. The star reverse type appears across multiple Sicilian Punic mints, making precise attribution between Carthage proper and its Sicilian dependencies a recurring problem in the series.
