Obverse description Bearded male head facing left, identified as Heracles, enveloped in the scalp of a lion whose gaping jaws frame the crown of the head and whose mane falls in bold relief behind the neck. The portrait is rendered in the Hellenistic tradition, with strong facial modelling, a prominent brow, and clearly articulated beard. The flan is irregular and shows the characteristic broad, flat fabric of Carthaginian silver coinage of the Mercenary War period.
