Reverse description Central field bears the royal title and name of Shah Tahmasp I inscribed in nasta'liq script, accompanied by the epithet identifying him as a servant of 'Ali ibn Abi Talib. The mint name Yazd appears prominently in the lower field, with the AH date 978 (AD 1570) inscribed adjacent. The reverse legend is arranged in multiple registers across the flan, typical of Safavid Sixth Western Standard coinage, with the hammered strike producing slight doubling and irregularity at the flan edges.
