| Beschrijving keerzijde | A rectangular countermark applied to the reverse of this host coin, bearing the Arabic legend 'Adl (Justice) and the regnal year 956 AH. The countermark is deeply impressed within a recessed octagonal or rectangular cartouche, clearly distinguishable from the underlying host coin legends which are partially visible in the surrounding field. The Arabic script is bold and characteristic of Safavid administrative practice. The application of this countermark is consistent with the Fourth Western Standard revalidation practice under Tahmasp I. |
