Reverse description A thyrsus — the fennel-stalk staff associated with Dionysus — depicted vertically at center, with a pine cone finial at the top and a pointed butt at the base. Two pellets appear in the lower field, serving as value marks indicating the sextans denomination. The ethnic legend MENAI NΩN is divided on either side of the central device in Greek characters, identifying the issuing city of Menainon in Sicily. The overall composition is bold and well-centered within the irregular hammered flan.
