Reverse description A caduceus depicted upright in the centre of the field, its shaft surmounted by intertwined serpents and flanked by the ethnic legend ΚΑΛΑΚΤΙΝΩΝ arranged vertically on either side. The caduceus, as the attribute of Hermes, provides thematic continuity with the obverse type. The lettering is in Greek majuscules and, though somewhat worn, remains largely legible on well-preserved specimens. The flan is irregular and the strike characteristic of locally produced Sicilian bronze coinage of the late third to early second century BC.
