Reverse description Artemis portrayed in dynamic motion, striding to the left while holding an upraised torch in her raised hand, rendered in a vigorous Hellenistic style. The figure is depicted in a short chiton, befitting the goddess in her role as huntress. In the left field appears one of several known symbols — barley-ear, caduceus, lyre, palm-branch, rudder, torch, or monogram — serving as a mint control mark or magistrate's symbol. The ethnic legend ΠΕΤΗΛΙ ΝΩΝ, identifying the issuing city of Petelia in Bruttium, is inscribed in the field. The overall composition is consistent with the civic bronze coinage of Petelia dating to the late third and early second centuries BC.
