| Beschrijving keerzijde | Standing figure of Mars, nude save for a crested helmet, depicted in full length facing left with weight shifted onto the right leg in a contrapposto stance. The god holds a spear diagonally in his right hand and rests his left hand on a round shield set at his side, with a trophy or parazonium visible near his left arm. The senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) flanks the figure in the field to left and right, rendered in large, clear characters. The reverse field is otherwise plain, with the design struck in the bold, somewhat schematic style typical of sestertii produced at the Rome mint under Vitellius in AD 69. |
