| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Vitellius facing right, rendered with strong, naturalistic portraiture characteristic of the Flavian period. The emperor's neck and shoulders are covered with a paludamentum (military cloak), fastened at the right shoulder. The legend encircles the bust along the rim, reading A VITELLIVS GERMA IMP AVG P M TR P. The portrait exhibits a broad, fleshy face with individualized features, consistent with surviving sculptural likenesses of Vitellius. |
