| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Vitellius facing right, rendered in high relief with a pronounced, fleshy portraiture characteristic of Julio-Claudian imperial coinage. The laureate wreath is clearly visible atop the head, and the paludamentum drapes over the left shoulder. The encircling Latin legend runs along the outer rim of the field, identifying the emperor with his full titulature. A ship's prow is visible in the lower portion of the field, referencing Roman naval power. |
