| Description du revers | The personification of Victory stands facing right, bare to the hips, with her right foot resting on a helmet. She inscribes the legend VIC AVG in two lines on a round shield that is attached to a palm tree. The palm tree, a well-established symbol of Judaea and Vespasian's Judaean triumph, forms the central vertical axis of the composition. The senatorial abbreviation S C appears in the field on either side of the main design, affirming the auctoritas of the Roman Senate. The composition commemorates Vespasian's victory in the Jewish War of AD 70. |
