The two imperial princes are shown as equals, celebrating Vespasian's dynastic programme. The senatorial authority mark S C appears in the exergue below a ground line, flanked by the encircling legend CAESAR AVG F DES IMP AVG F COS DES IT referencing the designations of both heirs. The composition is symmetrical and formally conceived, typical of Flavian dynastic reverse types struck at Rome. |
