| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse presents a bold epigraphic design featuring the honorific legend S P Q R / OB / CIVES / SERVATOS inscribed in four lines across the field, enclosed within a prominent oak wreath (corona civica). The wreath, a symbol of the highest civic honor awarded to one who saved the lives of Roman citizens, is rendered with individual leaves and berries in high relief, tied at the base with a decorative bow. The field is otherwise unadorned, giving the inscription monumental prominence. This reverse type directly echoes the corona civica granted to Augustus and is a deliberate reference to Vespasian's role as restorer of civil order after the tumultuous Year of the Four Emperors. |
