Obverse description Laureate bust of Vespasian facing right, wearing an aegis over the shoulder, rendered in the robust, naturalistic portraiture style characteristic of early Flavian coinage. The effigy displays the emperor's distinctive fleshy features with a broad forehead and strong jaw. The encircling Latin legend runs continuously around the periphery of the flan. The overall strike exhibits the bold, high-relief modelling typical of Julio-Claudian and early Flavian sestertii, with a patinated bronze surface showing areas of green corrosion and exposed copper.
