| Reverse description | The personification of Libertas stands in full figure facing left in a graceful contrapposto pose, clad in a long stola and palla. In her right hand she holds a pileus (the freedman's cap of liberty), and in her left hand she holds a long vindicta (rod or wand), symbolising the formal act of manumission. The legend LIBERTAS PVBLICA is divided to either side of the figure, while the large senatorial authorisation marks S and C appear in the lower field to either side. A beaded border frames the entire design. |
