| Obverse description | Laureate head of Vespasian facing right, rendered with characteristic realistic portraiture of the Flavian dynasty, depicting the emperor's strong, mature features. The laurel wreath, symbol of imperial authority and military triumph, sits firmly upon his head. The encircling legend runs along the outer border of the coin field in Latin capitals. The bust is rendered in high relief typical of early Flavian sestertii produced at the Rome mint. |
