| Beschrijving keerzijde | Two clasped right hands (dextrarum iunctio) gripping a legionary aquila mounted on a standard shaft, the eagle surmounting a prow-like base set in the lower field, with decorative phalerae visible on the shaft. The composition symbolises the loyalty and concordance of the Roman armies that supported Vespasian's rise to power. The legend FIDES EXERCITVVM is disposed horizontally in the field to left and right, while S C (Senatus Consultum) appears in the lower exergual area beneath the standard. The bold, high-relief design is characteristic of Flavian sestertius coinage struck at Rome. |
