Reverse description Two standing figures face one another at centre, both in full-length drapery, each extending one hand to jointly hold a globe between them at mid-field. The left figure, identified as a togated senator holding a long sceptre in his left hand, presents the globe toward Trajan, who stands to the right in military dress. The composition symbolises the senate's conferral of world dominion upon the emperor. The legend is arranged around the periphery, with the authorising senatorial formula S C divided in the lower exergue.
