| Beschrijving keerzijde | Standing figure of Arabia personified, draped, facing front with head turned to the left, her right hand extending a branch downward over a camel standing left and partially visible behind her lower body. Her left arm bears a bundle of cinnamon or reed stalks, emblematic of the aromatic trade goods of the newly acquired province. The composition commemorates the Roman annexation of the Nabataean Kingdom as the province of Arabia Petraea in AD 106, rendered in the allegorical personification style typical of Trajanic reverse types. The divided legend S P Q R OPTIMO PRINCIPI appears in the field and exergue, flanking the senatorial decree mark S C. |
