| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered in high relief in the naturalistic style characteristic of Trajanic imperial portraiture. The emperor is depicted with a strong, idealized profile, wearing a laurel wreath and a paludamentum (military cloak) fastened at the right shoulder. The surrounding legend runs clockwise from the lower left along the coin's periphery. The flan shows a crack consistent with the irregular casting technique of the period, and the surfaces display an attractive brown patina with green highlights. |
