| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered in high relief in the bold naturalistic style characteristic of Trajanic imperial portraiture. The emperor's strong, mature features are depicted with individualized detail, including a prominent brow and firm jawline. A paludamentum (military cloak) is visible at the shoulder, fastened with a fibula. The encircling legend runs clockwise around the full periphery of the flan, identifying the emperor with his full titulature. |
