She holds a long sceptre or wand in her right hand and gestures downward with her left hand toward a large globe resting at her feet, symbolising dominion over the world. The letters S C (Senatus Consultum) appear flanking the figure in the field to left and right, denoting senatorial authorisation of the bronze issue. The reverse legend PROVIDENTIA AVGVSTI S P Q R S C is distributed around the periphery. The composition is executed in the refined classicising style typical of Trajanic official coinage from the Rome mint. |
