| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, with drapery over the left shoulder, rendered in high relief in the characteristic robust Imperial Roman style. The emperor's effigy displays a finely detailed laurel wreath with trailing ribbons visible at the nape of the neck. The obverse legend encircles the bust, beginning at the lower left and running clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The portrait conveys the idealized yet individualized likeness of Trajan typical of the Rome mint's finest sestertius coinage of the Dacian-era issues. |
