| Obverse lettering | T CAES VESPASIAN IMP PON TR POT COS II (Translation: Titus Caesar Vespasianus Imperator, Pontifex [Maximus], Tribunicia Potestate, Consul Secundum. Titus Caesar Vespasianus, supreme commander (Imperator), [high] priest, holder of tribunician power, consul for the second time.) |
| Reverse description | The winged goddess Victoria, rendered in a flowing draped garment, strides to the left and leans forward to inscribe a shield set upon a palm tree. The palm tree, a symbol of Judaea Capta and the Flavian victory in Judaea, rises vertically at the centre-right of the field. A globus lies at Victoria's feet. The divided legend VICTORIA AVGVSTI appears to either side of the palm tree, while the senatorial authority mark S C is placed in the lower exergual area. The composition reflects the triumphalist iconography closely associated with Vespasian's and Titus's Judaean campaigns. |
