Reverse description The personification of Spes (Hope) stands in full figure facing left, rendered in flowing robes. In her extended right hand she holds a flower, while her left hand gathers and lifts the hem of her garment in the canonical gesture associated with this deity on Roman Imperial coinage. The large senatorial authorization mark S C (Senatus Consultum) is prominently placed in the field to either side of the figure. A partial reverse legend appears around the periphery of the coin.
