背面描述 A finely detailed hexastyle temple facade, representing the Temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus on the Capitoline Hill in Rome, rendered in frontal elevation. Six columns support a pediment decorated with sculptural relief, and within the intercolumniations three standing figures are visible flanking a central enthroned deity, likely Jupiter. The temple podium is depicted with a stepped base and a stylobate. The senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) appears prominently in the lower field, one letter to each side of the podium steps, affirming that the bronze coinage was issued by authority of the Senate.

附加信息

Struck in 74 AD, this sestertius belongs to Titus's tenure as co-emperor under Vespasian, a period when father and son shared tribunician power following the brutal conclusion of the Jewish War. The fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD had flooded Rome with plunder and enslaved prisoners, directly financing a surge in imperial building and coinage. Titus held imperium as Vespasian's designated heir, and his appearance on the bronze coinage of this year served a deliberate dynastic function — normalizing the Flavian succession before it formally occurred in 79 AD.
