Reverse description The reverse displays the large senatorial monogram S C (Senatus Consulto), struck in bold relief at centre, affirming that this bronze coinage was issued by authority of the Roman Senate. The letters are rendered in a broad, open style occupying most of the field, a convention standard on Imperial sestertii and dupondii. Encircling the central device, the full imperial titulature of Tiberius runs continuously around the periphery of the coin in incuse Latin capitals. The plain, undecorated field gives prominence to the authorising monogram, consistent with the austere numismatic aesthetic of the Tiberian period.
