Obverse lettering IMP NERVA CAES AVG GERM P M TR P II
(Translation: Supreme commander Nerva, Caesar, emperor, conqueror of the Germans, high priest, holder of tribunician power for the second time.)
Reverse description Standing figure of Fortuna, goddess of fortune, draped in long flowing robes, positioned facing left. In her extended right hand she holds a rudder set upon the ground, symbolising the steering of fate, while her left hand grasps a cornucopiae, emblematic of abundance and prosperity. The senatorial legend S C (Senatus Consulto) appears prominently in the field, affirming the authority of the Senate over base-metal coinage. The remaining reverse inscription is distributed around the upper and lower periphery of the coin, framing the central allegorical composition in a manner typical of Nervan bronze issues.
