| Reverse description | The goddess Fortuna depicted seated left upon a throne or chair, robed in classical drapery, extending her right hand forward to present ears of grain (corn-ears) and grasping a long vertical sceptre in her left hand. The figure is rendered with careful attention to drapery folds, conveying divine dignity and calm authority. The abbreviated legend FORTVNA PR arcs across the upper field, while the senatorial authority mark S C (Senatus Consultum) appears in the lower exergual area beneath the throne. The composition is well-centered on the broad orichalcum flan typical of Nervan sestertii. |
