Behind and to his right, a single mounted soldier also riding right bears a vexillum (military standard) over his shoulder, representing an escort during the imperial decursio. The scene commemorates the military parade exercise (decursio) performed by the emperor, conveying an image of martial prowess and imperial leadership.
