| Beschrijving keerzijde | Dynamic military scene (decursio) depicting Nero, bare-headed and cuirassed with cloak billowing behind him, mounted on a prancing horse advancing right and holding a spear at rest in his right hand. Immediately before the emperor, a foot soldier advances right while turning his head back to the left, bearing a vexillum (military standard) over his left shoulder in his right hand. Behind the mounted emperor, a second helmeted soldier is shown running to the right. The composition conveys imperial military prowess and the ceremonial cavalry parade known as the decursio. The reverse legend DECVRSIO appears in the field, identifying the scene. |
