| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate bust of Nero facing left, depicted with characteristic youthful curly hair and draped shoulders, rendered in high relief in the naturalistic Julio-Claudian court style. The imperial effigy is positioned centrally within the field, occupying the full height of the flan. The encircling Latin legend runs continuously around the periphery of the obverse, naming and titling the emperor. The portrait exhibits the refined engraving typical of the Rome mint under Nero's early reign. |
