Obverse description Laureate bust of Nero facing left, depicted with characteristic youthful features and curled hair rendered in the Julio-Claudian portrait style. The emperor's neck and shoulders are bare, presented in bold high relief against a flat field. The encircling Latin legend runs clockwise around the entire periphery of the flan. The portrait conveys the imperial authority of Nero in the established tradition of Roman imperial coinage, with precise engraving of facial details including the heavy jaw and fleshy neck characteristic of his later portraiture.
