Reverse description Elaborate multi-figure scene depicting Nero's first congiarium (public distribution of gifts). Nero, bare-headed and togate, is seated right on a raised platform at left; before him, a togate official is seated on a lower platform extending the congiarium to a citizen standing below, with a small boy visible behind the citizen. To the right stand two personifications: Minerva, helmeted, facing left, holding an owl and a spear; and Liberalitas, holding a tessera (counting board). The senatorial abbreviation S C (Senatus Consultum) appears in the field, authorising the bronze coinage, with the legend above.
