| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Nero facing right, with aegis on neck, rendered in high relief with bold, idealized portraiture characteristic of the early Neronian series. The emperor's features are fleshy and youthful, consistent with official imperial iconography of the period. The encircling legend runs along the outer field from lower left to lower right. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, typical of struck sestertii of the Julio-Claudian period. |
